Rafael Benitez is making big changes outside of the pitch of Newcastle United

Newcastle United were relegated from the Premier League after having to settle with the 18th spot during the 2015-16 season and will now have to compete in the English Championship League.

Even with the arrival of Rafael Benitez as the new coach of Newcastle United, the Spanish manager failed to rescue the English team and save them from being relegated.

There are clear weaknesses that Newcastle United has been displaying in the pitch and Rafael Benitez is the man that was tasked with the job to help solve these issues and the Spanish manager is doing a number of changes outside of the actual squad and this is something that is regularly not taken into consideration for many coaches.

Signing new players and making new formations is what managers are usually focused on but Rafael Benitez is taking a different approach as he has made a number of changes which range from moving the Under-21 squad out of the first team base to releasing academy product players from the first team and a variety of different things.

Rafael Benitez has been working closely with the chief of the academy youth teams Joe Joyce and the managing director Lee Charnley as he wants to increase the amount of youth team graduates and also wants to help improve Newcastle’s relations at the grassroots level.

The Spanish manager also felt that the first team training area was getting too crowded and overloaded with players and this is why he opted to move the club’s Under-21 squad out of the first team base.
“It’s an opportunity to change things and we will try to make the right decisions and will go in the right direction. I think everybody realized something had to change and it’s a great opportunity to do it now.

We are working very hard. Since the first day I signed the new contract, we have started improving and analyzing the training ground to see what we can do, and I have a meeting in the academy, and with the medical department and for the squad with the scouting department’’ Rafael Benitez said as he talked about a few of the changes that he wants to do and he also revealed some of his plans for the Premier League club.
