NEWCASTLE DEFENDER PROVIDES INJURY UPDATE

Newcastle United defender Fabian Schar has provided a fresh injury update that could interest the club’s fans. The Switzerland international defender has not played for the Tyneside club since sustaining an injury in their 3-2 win over Southampton some months ago. The injury, which is said to be a knee problem, required him to undergo surgery and he has been out of action since then.

The game was played at St James’s Park and everything was going on fine until the 7th-minute when he was involved in a nasty clash with a Southampton player that saw him taken off the pitch in a stretcher. The event meant that Newcastle had to play the remaining 15 minutes of that game with just nine men.

After scans were made, it was eventually announced that the defender would be missing up to months of action because of how severe the injury was. It also raised fears as to whether he would be able to be fit early enough to join his country’s national team in preparation for the UEFA Euros 2020 which will hold later this year.

However, in what appears to be a positive turn of events, the defender has revealed that he is getting all lit up and ready to partake in his team’s remaining games of the season as they look to try and avoiding relegated to the Championship even though he admitted that it’s slightly impossible for him to make a comeback before the season ends.

The 29-year-old was speaking in a virtual interview organized by the club where he revealed that he feels very happy with where he currently is after up to seven weeks of his surgery. He said he has been working very hard in the last couple of weeks and has been spending a lot of time for rehab as he tries to come back earlier than first announced.
