ALL CHANGE AT TOON

It has been a strange summer at Newcastle United following the arrival of Joe Kinnear as the director of football, which has undermined the authority of manager Alan Pardew.

However, Pardew has said that he will persuade the club as much as possible in order to bring in two more strikers before the end of the transfer window. Newcastle had a spectacular season only recently when they finished in fifth position, but the perils of Europa league football coupled with several injuries meant that they finished in the bottom half of the campaign last season.

There was also the threat of relegation for most of the season last time around and the pressure is on Pardew. He also has to work with the former manager Kinnear around the club as the director of football. Even though the former West Ham United manager may have stated that he has no issues when it comes to working with Kinnear, there seems to be a lot of tension at St James’s Park. Newcastle recently came back after an intense training session in Portugal.

Pardew has said that he will speak to the owner Mike Ashley about the need to bring two strikers. This is especially important given the future of Cisse is also in doubt.
“It is important now that the message we give out is strong and that Joe hopefully secures the strikers that we need. I have, of course, been speaking to people at the club while we were in Portugal (about signings). It is my job to progress it for the fans and that’s what I am going to try to do. I am the spokesman to the board, to Joe and Mike in particular,” said Pardew.

It has been speculated that several key players will be leaving Newcastle in the summer.
