Steve McClaren: ‘’This is only the beginning for Newcastle United’’

Newcastle United is positioned in the bottom relegation zone of the Premier League but this might change soon enough after having gone through a fairly busy winter transfer window which includes having signed: Henri Saivet, JonjoShelvey, Andros Townsend and SeydouDoumbia.

The owner of Newcastle United Mike Ashley had to offload around £29million in order to bring in all of those players and Steve McClaren believes that this is only the beginning of what Ashley is planning to do with the club.

Steve McClaren told the media: “We wanted to take this club forward, and that will only progress through investment. Really it’s just the beginning. It’s not the end, it’s only the beginning. It started in the summer, it’s continued this window. I think we said it would, and now we’re thinking yeah, the squad, when you look, is progressing towards ultimately what we want. We are delighted with what we have got and it’s enough to see us through and score goals.”

These signings are expected to help out Newcastle United in their journey of making it out of the relegation zone but according to the head coach, Steve McClaren says that Mike Ashley has a list of things that he wants to accomplish with the club but surviving in the Premier League is the primary task right now.

SaidoBerahino was one of the players that Steve McClaren was mostly focused in signing but even with a club record bid of £21.2million, it wasn’t enough to lure the English forward away from West Bromwich Albion, nonetheless, fans of Newcastle United were happy to see the club being active in the previous transfer window and now it’s all up to Steve McClaren to make the most of his newly assembled team and fight for survival.
